A visit to Brij is considered incomplete without a visit to Shri Vrindavan Dham. A visit to Vrindavan Dham is considered incomplete without having a darshan of Thakur Shri Banke Bihariji Maharaj.

The प्रतिमा (idol) of Thakur Shri Banke Bihariji Maharaj in the Mandir represents the combined form of the celestial couple Shyama Shyam. The प्रतिमा in the Mandir is the one granted to Swami Shri Haridas ji by the eternal couple Shyama Shyam at the request of Swami ji while in presence of his disciples.

Once in Vrindavan, one can reach the Mandir using any form of local transportation available and any of the Brijwasi can provide directions to the Mandir . One can reach Vrindavan using any means of transportation of convenience.

A devotee can come to the Mandir any day of year either in the morning or the evening to have darshan of Thakurji. The devotees should note that the darshan timings vary in summers and winters, and should plan accordingly.

A large number of devotees visit the Mandir everyday. The devotees visiting the Mandir increase considerably during the auspicious days of the month which includes Ekadashi, Poornima and Amavasya. Public holidays including Saturdays and Sundays are also particularly busy days at the Mandir. The annual festivals celebrated in the Mandir draw the largest number of devotees. During these festivals we advise elderly devotees and devotees with small children to avoid visiting the Mandir.

Devotees planning a trip to the Mandir should also note that we do not have a dedicated VIP darshan system which allows for special entry into the Mandir. However if you are already inside the Mandir, and want to access the darshan from the first row, you can do so by purchasing a ticket from inside the Mandir itself.

Some devotees who have booked personalized pooja and sewa offerings to Thakurji are allowed entry into the Mandir before the Mandir opens for darshan. We currently do not have online facility to allow booking for these personalized pooja and sewa offerings, however devotees can subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed when this facility becomes available online.

How to reach Vrindavan?

Reaching Shri Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan has become very easy with changing times and improved transportation infrastructure. Anyone can easily visit Vrindavan by using any of the three available means of transport.

  • By Air

    The nearest airports to Vrindavan are: Kheria Airport (AGR) in Agra which is about 70 kms away, and Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi which is about 150 kms away. Devotees would need to travel by road to Vrindavan from either of these airports. NH 44 connects both Agra and Delhi with Vrindavan. Devotees can aslo take Yamuna Expressway from Delhi airport to reach Vrindavan.

  • By Train

    Vrindavan Road (VRBD) railway station is not connected to other major cities and therefore devotees planning to reach Vrindavan via train should plan to arrive at Mathura Junction (MTJ). Mathura Junction railway station is about 14 kms away from the Mandir. Several means of local transportations are available from the railway station to reach Vrindavan, this includes: taxi, rickshaw, and buses.

  • By Road

    Devotees travelling from Delhi/NCR can reach Vrindavan either through NH 44 or via Yamuna Expressway. If travelling by bus via NH 44, devotees should note that there are limited buses going to Vrindavan bus stop. However every bus going towards Mathura or Agra will drop devotees just outside Vrindavan. The bus stop on NH 44 nearest to Vrindavan is called Chhatikara and devotees can take e-rickshaw from there to reach Vrindavan.

    Devotees coming from other directions can reach Mathura bus stop. Multiple modes of transportations are available from Mathura bus stop for Vrindavan, this includes: local buses, taxis, and rickshaw.

    Devotees traveling to Vrindavan using personal/private transportations should note that it is not possible to bring car all the way to the Mandir, and they would have to park their cars at any of the multiple car parkings available in Vrindavan.
